THE NEW MILLENNIUM
POLKA FESTIVAL

The Millennium Festival is based upon the idea that Polka/ March music is very much alive in communities along the Mississippi River and its tributaries.  They still have festivals in

Nebraska, Missouri & Kansas along the Missouri river, in
Minnesota, Iowa & Wisconsin along the Minnesota and upper Mississippi rivers, in
Illinois along the Illinois river, in
Tennessee along the Cumberland river, in
Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia & Ohio along the Ohio river, in
Oklahoma, Alabama & Arkansas along the Tennessee and Arkansas rivers, in
Louisiana & Mississippi along the lower Mississippi river.
Now, of course, some of these communities don't call their festival a Polka festival.  Maybe, they call it Craw dad Days or Cowboy's Roundup.   And, maybe, they dance jigs or reels instead of Polkas.

But, the beats the same.  And, the variety would make the festival even more fun.  Just think of all the food, music, songs, dances, and activities everyone could enjoy.

I've never had real Cajun Cookin.  But, I'd sure like to try.  I've never clog danced.  But, I'd sure like to try.  I've never seen a live rodeo.  But, I'd sure like to.  I've never seen a live Hillbilly band. But....

Here's the schedule for the Millennium Festival:

On the
First Week

Northern communities, along the Mississippi and it tributaries, such as, Omaha, Minneapolis, New Ulm, La Crosse, Chicago, Cincinnati, Charleston, and Pittsburgh would begin with giant, kick off, weekend festivals.

During the
Second Week

A  flotilla of boats and a caravan of cars from the northern festivals would party through their respective river towns and communities to St. Louis, Missouri (The state that divides the North and South).  St. Louis will host another giant weekend Polka festival.

During the
Third Week

The Polka pilgrims continue their merry way down to New Orleans for

The Mother Of All Polka Fests.

A festival that will bring America together in brotherhood, inspiration, and fun

A festival of music, singing, dancing, eating, and entertainment

The biggest party in history

Digi ligi li!!

The map below shows the cities along the route.  As more communities join the Millennium Festival, their names will be added to the map.  The only criteria for a town to join the festival is that it borders the Mississippi or a tributary.
