Temperament/ Personalty is a set of traits/ tendencies to behave or think in a certain way.

These traits are genetic

The Four Basic Temperaments

Artisans value freedom and spontaneity. They want to be without constraint, free to act on their impulses, to play and create.

Guardians value belonging to a group or community. They maintain stability through responsible, conservative, traditional behavior.

Idealists value personal growth, authenticity, and integrity. They yearn to develop themselves fully as individuals and to facilitate growth in others.

Rationals value competence and intelligence. They strive to learn, know, predict, and control the resources in their environment.

The Meaning Of The Letters

Each pair of letters forms a spectrum,

For example, E-I is the spectrum from E = a person who perform best with people.  To I = a person who performs best alone.

No single letter represents a type of person.  For example, no one is an E, or "Extrovert".

Personality/ Temperament is composed of many traits. The letters merely suggest a stronger or weaker tendency to those traits.

The letters represent the following traits:

E = Extrovert I = Introvert
S = Senses N = Intuitive
T = Thinking F = Feeling
J = Judgment P = Perception


Extrovert =  people who perform best with people (The Life Of The Party, Mr. Personality)
Introvert =   people who perform best without interacting with people, sometimes alone (The Scholar, The Observer, The Quiet Man)

Sensation =  people who perform best with their senses, things they can see, touch, feel, smell, taste (The Mechanic, Mr. Fixit)
Intuitive =     people who perform best with their mind, thoughts, ideas, visualizations (The Inventor, The Dreamer, Deep Thinker)

Thinking =    people who perform best when things are reasonable, have rules. They are insensitive to the world around them.
Feeling =      people who perform best with their heart, feelings, sentiment, without rules.  They are sensitive to the world around them.

Judgment =   people who perform best when with a plan, a list. They use judgment to estimate the situation and plan for it.
Perception = people who perform best without a plan, spur of the moment.  They act upon a situation as they perceive it unfold.
