Prayer

Praying is a natural instinct.

Praying is good for us.

We are genetically predisposed to pray.

We were born to say, "Thank God for that!" or "Please help me, God!"

We instinctively understand that some things are beyond our power.

Prayer acknowledges our inadequacy.

As we grow older, we pray more and more.

Prayer Of Thanks

Prayers of thanksgiving give us a positive attitude because they remind us of the good things in life.

  • Give thanks every day.

  • Give thanks every time something happens to make life more enjoyable, more healthy, more prosperous.

  • Give thanks before you go to sleep.

Table Prayer

Thank you God for our life

Thank you God for our love

Thank you God for our food

Thank you God for every thing

Prayer For Help

Prayers for help are common because we are not perfect and life is not perfect

  • At the beginning of every day, pray for strength, wisdom, and good fortune

  • Every time we have a problem, pray for help.

How to pray for help

  1. Tell God your problem exactly (define the problem) and write it down.

  2. Tell God the ways He can help you (define the solution) and write that down, too.

  3. Use the ideas from steps 1 and 2 and begin to meditate upon the problem and the solution.

  4. As you meditate, hope with all your heart and soul that

  • God will inspire you - Eureka! I know how to help my son.

  • People will help you - doctors, family, friends, Internet, perhaps, even telepathy, if such a phenomena exists.

  • Luck will help you - You meet the perfect stranger.  You win Lotto.

When we pray, we meditate, hope, and beseech God to help us, all at the same time

Also, as you are praying, realize that

  • You must work to solve the problem - read books, search the Internet, talk to people, buy 1 Lotto ticket, go to doctors, etc.

  • Your prayers may or may not be answered

  • The amount of time you spend working and praying depends upon your problem and your luck

  • You can pray anywhere.  A quiet, pleasant place is nice but not necessary.

When we involve ourselves in our problem,

  • We become a big part of the solution.

  • We become more aware of our problem.

  • We become more aware of things that can help us solve our problem.

  • We have more hope and greater peace of mind.

  • We develop The Power of Positive Thinking.

Think about our problem and its solution. Then, hope and pray that

  1. We can help ourselves or our genes can help us:  Some people have wonderful genes that help them work hard, think well, and solve problems quickly.  Some people have intuition that helps them solve problems in the blink of an eye.

  2. Other people can help us.

  3. Our training and experience can help us:  Internet skills, technical skills, social skills, travel, friends and acquaintances

  4. The world can help us: hospitals, universities, libraries, foundations, organizations, scientific developments.

  5. Coincidences or luck can help us: winning Lotto, meeting the perfect stranger, discovering a cure, inventing a tool ......

Pray as if everything depends upon God

Work as if everything depends upon you

Ask  God for His help every morning,

and

Thank God for his blessings every night

Remember, piety is genetic.

We should pray every day.

We should begin the day with a prayer for help and end the day with a prayer of thanks.

Some people believe that astrophysics created the universe and evolution created all living things.  They also believe that humans are the only intelligent beings to ever exist in the universe.

Furthermore, ancient Greeks believed that God was human. Or,

God

was an idealized anthropomorphic abstraction of the people's

physical and cultural attributes.

·        Physical attributes mean the people's mind and body.

·        Cultural attributes mean the people's social and physical environment.

·        Physical environment means the people's mountains, rivers, buildings, flags, hiways...

Unfortunately, Greek theologians did not have science, so their Gods were unenlightened.

But, if man is the only intelligent being to ever exist in the universe, then, using the Greek model, we can construct a new God:

God is an idealized human with a scientific world view

Greek theologians assessed the physical and cultural attributes of their people and anthropomorphically transformed those attributes into Gods.  However, because their theologians lacked a scientific and, therefore, a sophisticated philosophical world view, their theology could not teach the people to consciously, willfully and intelligently assert their interests and position in the universe.  For that reason, Greek Gods entertained themselves with the routine affairs of their worshipers - love, war, life, death.

But, today, like the Greeks, scientific theologians will assess the people, their talents, scientific developments, philosophical perceptions and anthropomorphically transform those attributes into the new God who will arrange the universe in a way that is beneficial to mankind and more intelligently designed than thoughtless nature.

This God will be a person, or persons, who walks among the people and affects their life.

Perhaps, God will be the spirit of the men and women who advanced our understanding of the universe and our way of life.

Perhaps, like the Greeks, artists, writers, dramatists, and composers will idealize these men and women and portray them as perfect humans worthy our adoration.

Perhaps, these scientific theologians will create prayers of supplication and prayers of adoration to these new Gods.

Also, this scientific theology, like the Greeks, will have more than one God (with a leader God) so that, people can address their specific needs or adorations.  For example, if someone needs medical help, they can pray to Our Lord Hippocrates/ Asclepius/ Pasteur/ Fleming.  Or, if they have technical needs, they can pray to Our Lord Archimedes/ Edison/ Berners-Lee/ Farnsworth.

Praying For Help

  1. Think about your problem (define the problem) and write it in a journal.  If you don't understand exactly your problem, write what it is that you don't understand in your journal

  2. Think about the ways that you can solve your problem (define the solution) and write them in your journal.  If you don't know exactly what the solution is to your problem, write what you don't know in your journal.

  3. From what you know about your problem and its solution, give yourself a percentage and a timeline for solving it. In other words, be realistic.  Of course, as you learn more about your problem, the percentage and the time it will take to solve your problem will change.

  4. Now, using the ideas from steps 1 and 2, think about your problem and its solution: set aside 5 - 10 minutes a day, or as often as you can, take your journal and review your notes, then, think about your problem. And, as you're thinking, hope with all your heart that

  • Your right brain will inspire you: “Eureka! I know how to fix it.”

  • Your left brain will deduce the solution: “So, if I consolidate my debts, refinance my home, and pay off the car, I can...”

  • People will help you: family, friends, doctors, Internet, telepathy(?)...

  • Luck will help you: Lotto, a stranger, a new invention, a new procedure...

  • You have wonderful genes that help you work hard.

As you think, realize that

  • You must work to solve the problem: read books, search the Net, talk to people...

  • You may or may not solve your problem, depending upon your percentage.

  • The amount of time you spend working and thinking depends upon your luck.

  • You can think and hope anywhere.  A quiet, pleasant place is nice but not necessary.

Also, realize that when you involve yourself with your problem,

  • You become a big part of the solution.

  • You become more aware of your problem and the things that can solve it.

  • You forget your problem as you work trying to solve it.

  • You have more hope and greater peace of mind.

  • You develop The Power of Positive Thinking.

Above all, resist any inclination to lament and curse your fate. It's bad for you. It's bad for the health of your mind and body.  It won't solve your problem. Besides, you can use that time and energy to solve the problem.

However, if the inclination to lament and curse your fate becomes overwhelming and your condition seems hopeless; then, make a list of all the good  things that happened to you and compare them with the bad.  The reality is that, at some time in life, everybody has a bad day, week, month, year.  No one had it worse, then, Joan of Arc or the 300 Spartans.

Also, think about this: People who know that astrophysics created the universe and evolution created all living things also know that this is the only life they will ever have. And, for that reason, they will fight for life with all their strength.  Every day they will say,

Give me the strength, wisdom, and talent to enjoy every minute of every hour of every day because I know that when I die, my life will be over, forever.

Remember, piety is genetic

After Thoughts

You cannot pray for good luck because luck is a man-made concept that only exists in the human brain.  It does not exist in reality. Things that happen to us are simply events that are propelled or stopped by physics or chemistry. Nothing intelligent controls them.

You cannot put your trust in Mother Nature because, like luck, Mother Nature is a man made concept that exists only in the human brain.  Nature does not intelligently design or control anything.  She merely follows blindly the laws of physics and chemistry.  There is no intelligent design to nature.  Everything is an accident.  In fact, scientists, engineers, and doctors can give us thousands of examples that indicate Nature is not that intelligent in her designs.  So, we cannot pray for luck or to nature to help or perfect us.

Humans surpass nature and luck in design and engineering.

If we break a leg, we should not pray for luck or nature to help us. Rather, we should go to an intelligent human who was educated in an intelligently designed school by another intelligent human who taught him an intelligent procedure that intelligent humans developed to repair broken legs.  And, some day, that procedure will be replaced by another even more intelligently designed procedure to repair broken legs, such as, stem cells.

In this theology,

God is intelligent, reasonable, scientific, mathematical, orderly, neat, disciplined, law-abiding...

The Anti-God, the Devil, Evil is stupid, unreasonable, sloppy, slovenly, queer, goofy, goony, antisocial, unbalanced, ugly, asymmetrical, deformed, random, chaotic, chance, lawless...

The only forces that exist in the universe are the forces physics and chemistry and the force of man's intelligence.  For example, man's intelligence can force a magnet over a wire to create electricity. Man is the only being in the universe that can make that phenomena happen indefinitely, anytime, or anywhere.

Help me to be the way God intended me to be.

Give me the strength, wisdom, and talent to solve my problems and enjoy life.
